Bluestem Hall is an event venue looking to fill a few part-time event assistant positions! The majority of our events are weddings, but we also hold conferences, fundraisers, showers, and styled photo shoots!
We are a tight knit group (two owners and a few employees) with a super creative hands-on attitude towards life! We are running a serious business with as much thoughtfulness, execution, and perfection as we can while learning from each event to improve our business.
A go-getter who can see what needs to be done and take initiative to do it
Ability to work with a close team of people all striving towards the same goals
Extremely observant (for example: noticing the AC is a little too cool or noticing the outdoor lights haven’t been turned on yet etc.)
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Self-described as likable, personable, easy to talk with
Someone who is kind and respectful but is also able to be stern in enforcing house rules if/when problems arise is required
Comfortable correcting inappropriate behavior of guests of all ages
Bonus if you have interests and goals of a career in the event/hospitality industry
About the position:
The tasks are varied and can change event to event but generally include: guest and client satisfaction, moving tables and chairs, set up and tear down management (guests do their own decorating), cleaning and maintenance (surface cleaning/bar/bathroom/floors and trash and recycling), assistance in the parking lot helping guests park, using your eagle eyes to make sure guests are ok and the client/business contract is being met and upheld, correcting any problems you see with respectful yet authoritative actions. Our wedding schedule is set far in advance so you will know your work schedule ahead of time. You must be available on those weekends and have flexibility with your schedule.
Hours will vary depending on the events. A typical range will be 9-20 for weeks that have events. Pay depends on experience.
